Al-Qur'an and Muqaddam classes at mosques are vital elements in integrating religious education at primary schools in Brunei Darussalam. Through close collaboration between mosques, schools and families, said efforts can produce a generation that is knowledgeable, pious and morally upright, inline with the nation's inspirations and the Malay Islamic Monarchy philosophy. The Minister of Religious Affairs stated the matter during a working visit to Al-Qur'an and Muqaddam classes at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque in Rimba, 30th January morning. Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman also shared on the increasing number of pupils joining Al-Quran and Muqaddam classes.
According to Yang Berhormat Pehin, the rising number of pupils attending Al-Qur'an and Muqaddam classes reflected the parent's strong awareness, and the ministry welcome's such awareness.
During the visit, the delegation observed the teaching and learning of Al-Qur'an and Muqaddam classes, aside from ensuring the classes run in an orderly and effective manner, inline with the goals of empowering Al-Qur'an education in the country. Al-Qur'an and Muqaddam classes that are held every Friday at mosques nationwide served as an important support to Islamic education at primary schools, particularly in Al-Qur'an subject.
